Setting up Discounts

You can add a new discount by following these steps from the Administration Menu:

  • Click Store Administration
  • Select Discounts
  • Select Add new discount
  • Enter name: Name for your use only
  • Enter description : Name for your customer ie 10%sale
  • Set the coupon to Active or leave unchecked to keep inactive.
  • Set the start end finish date
  • Set Conditions of Qualification: in this section you set up the conditions that will trigger this coupon for example: you wish to apply discount to certain products but only if the value of these products in the shopping cart is more then $100
  • If you wish to use a code for your discount select Enter Require code to activate discount: Name that the customer will type in to apply the discount (ie 10%sale)- if you want the code to be used otherwise the discount will be applied automatically based on the Conditions
  • Set the Discount Application [Percentage or Price discount]: here you set up the value of the discount
  • Set the Discount Type [Percentage or Price discount]
  • Set the amount for discount to apply
  • Set the Maximum number maximum applications
  • Set the Filter Type: the discount may apply to specific products, catalog or SKU
  • Set the Max Uses per user or
  • Set the Max Uses per code

IMPORTANT: Instead off applying 10% you need to specify 11% this will give you true 10% discount. Discounts are applied to the purchase price ex GST.

All the settings have descriptions and some settings you'll need to tick to expand for more so this should help in setting up a discount but if you get stuck on something you can always send us an email or call.

If you use/set Discount Code, it is entered in the Discount section in the shopping cart where the discount is applied to the calculations.

The best rule to apply here is to test the discount after you set it up to make sure you get the desired outcome in the checkout
